How to Start an Online Business Around Your Passion

Foto by Anthony Shkraba from Pexels

Starting an online business around your passion is basically an online sales job, you sell different products through different marketing methods like online advertising or Search Engine Optimization (SEO) To make a lot of money, the value of the product is very, very important.

How to start an online business around your passion?

And so it goes, while there are many products that you can sell online, there are only very few types of products that will make you money. Among professional Internet marketers, there is a consensus that so-called "evergreen" products are the best ones to market online. And what are "evergreen" products? They are products that will always sell because they fulfill basic needs and thus, are always in season.

These are products that fall under the following general categories: money, love, and health. People always want more money, more love, and better health. It doesn't matter which part of the world they're in, the needs are always the same. And so it goes, if you're just starting out, make sure you're promoting products that are "evergreen".

With the right kind of product and some expertise in SEO or online advertising, you can have your first sale in less than a month.

Where can you find products to promote online? Two of the biggest product marketplaces are ClickBank and Markethealth. Obviously, with Markethealth, you will find health products for different health conditions like warts and hemorrhoids, although you can also find beauty products like eyelash growth serums and weight loss supplements.

On the other hand, ClickBank is the place where you can find information products like dating guides. You can also find finance-related products like Forex robots. You need to sign up with those ClickBank and Markethealth as an affiliate before you can start promoting.

Aside from the products mentioned above, you should also consider promoting niche dating sites. People are always searching for love online. Depending on a person's taste, there are dating sites for bisexuals, bikers, military personnel, STD-infected people, etc. Simply do a search on Google for "dating sites affiliate program" and sign up as an affiliate.

Affiliate programs usually pay their affiliates through Paypal, however, there are those that pay only by check, like in the case of ClickBank.

In choosing a product, there are two things you need to consider: If there is an ongoing strong demand for the product and if the competition isn't too bad. (Note: A product where there are no competitors means nobody's making money from it.)

There are free and paid tools to research product demand and competition. Free tools include Google keyword search while paid tools include Market Samurai. If you're just starting out, do not invest in paid tools just yet, rather hone basic marketing skills, like identifying why people buy.

You also need to hone your skills in whatever method you choose to market products on the Internet. While it doesn't take a genius to do Internet Marketing, skills ARE required. Tools are useless in the hands of an inexperienced marketer.

How to Turn Your Weightlifting Hobby Into a Profession

Foto by Marta Wave from Pexels

Weightlifting is generally broken down into various categories - bodybuilding, powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting, and general health and fitness pursuits. And while each varies in philosophy and execution, weightlifters in general share one common trait - they love workouts and time spent in the gym.

In many cases, if not most, successful weightlifting also involves weightlifters getting enough sleep, maintaining a healthy diet, and using various vitamins and supplements to keep them healthy and maximize the results of their weightlifting.

Sound familiar?

So tell me, does it make sense to put in all that effort, to craft a healthy mind, body and lifestyle, just to then spend 40 hours a week in a job you hate? Or even in a job that's OK, but still brings stress into your life on a daily or weekly basis? We all know stress can be bad for the body and the mind, so why go through it to your detriment in order to make someone else wealthier? Sounds kind of counter-productive to all your healthy weightlifting lifestyle, doesn't it?

What if there was a viable alternative?

Fortunately, there is! If you've been weightlifting for a while successfully, you've no doubt noticed beneficial changes in your strength, energy, body shape and general attitude. And those around you, in the gym and out, have likely also been noticing and commenting. People are starting to ask how you lost weight, tightened up your midsection, built more muscle or have the time and energy to maintain your fit lifestyle, aren't they? And therein lies the answer to the work/lifestyle conundrum...

Millions of people around the world go to the gym regularly but aren't getting the same results you are. They may not have the knowledge of proper weightlifting procedures, they may not know which exercises are best to meet their goals, or they may not even have set specific goals yet, leaving them unable to gauge what works and what is wasting their time.

And for every one of them, there are 5 - 10 people outside the gym who want a healthy lifestyle, who want to lose weight, who want to be stronger or just generally want to improve their body before venturing out to the beach in their newest bikini or swim trunks. Many of them are intimidated by the idea of going to a gym and want to train at home, but they have no idea how to start. Others aren't intimidated, but they aren't overly motivated - yet.

Easy to see how YOUR weightlifting, diet and lifestyle knowledge and experience can help them, isn't it? Fortunately, you can start building your personal training business part-time, investing as much or as little time each week as you have available, at any point through the day or night that you choose to work on it. And unlike a lot of other home-based businesses, you have a great deal of control over how fast your business grows.

Start by doing some quick research online to see which certification best suits the style of weightlifting you want to coach. You might want to start with training to become a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT), a Certified Fitness Instructor (CFI) or even a nutrition coach. Over time you may want to get all three along with other, more specific certifications, but for now choose the one that's most directly related to the type of weightlifting you yourself love participating in. You're more like to stay motivated and complete the certification if you love the subject, and you'll also be learning new information to help your own weightlifting results.

While you're working toward your first certification, set up and start posting to your own health and fitness social media accounts. These will be your 'store-front windows' to the weightlifters and wannabes, so don't skimp - at a minimum set up profiles at Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. If you're already a member or know of other social media sites you'd like to use, so much the better.

From this point on, make sure you're in compliance with any local laws and bylaws regarding home-based businesses, and speak to your insurance professional as to whether you need liability insurance when dispensing exercise instruction, especially with the potential hazards for people new to weightlifting whether they are training at the gym or training at home.

While it's not necessary to have your weightlifting certifications to start training people, it certainly adds to your credibility when getting started, at least until you have some success stories from your initial weightlifting clients. But you can still do a lot to launch your business while you're still working toward those certifications.

Are you going to set up a private training area in your garage, basement or spare room? Or are you looking to train people virtually, providing them with the necessary guidance through video chats and pre-prepared workout routines tailored to their goals? Either way, let the word out that you're looking for a couple of weightlifting friends or acquaintances who are looking to get started or get better results, and that you're willing to train them for free or a reduced fee in order to be able to use them as examples of your training prowess.

And from there you're on your way to your own home-based business, turning your weightlifting hobby into your profession. As you garner more certifications, more clients, and a bigger social media following in the weightlifting and fitness industry, you'll find your knowledge, results, reputation and income can all increase regularly in line with the time and effort you invest in your new home-based business.

At some point you'll be able to decide to keep it part-time or go full-time with your weightlifting coaching - and whether to continue to do it as a home-based business, set up your own personal training gym or make arrangements with a local gym to take your business there. In any event, you'll have the joy and satisfaction of knowing you turned your passion for weightlifting from your hobby into your profession, letting you operate on your own terms at your own schedule in a home-based business in a field you're already truly passionate about - weightlifting!

What Is Affiliate Marketing - And Why You Should Use It

Foto by Anna Nekrashevich from Pexels

If you're interested in working flexibly from your laptop, affiliate marketing might be an option. With many products online for affiliates to promote and many ways to promote them, it's a very flexible business model which can give you time and financial freedom. Initially though many affiliates struggle to make sales. It's a process to learn the skill of marketing affiliate products. However, if you're determined to learn that skill, it can serve you for the rest of your life.

Once you're successful as an affiliate, you can live anywhere, work for yourself and never need another job or employee ever again. This is a large "prize" and one worth working for. But many drop out before they get to the point of even making a single sale.

The learning curve for affiliate marketing can be a steep one, and there's no guarantees. You'll need to sell something before you can make anything. So if you're desperate for money it's probably not something you should rely on for income straight away. But if you're serious about building an income from the internet, and willing to put in the effort, the rewards can be great.

There's many ways to do affiliate marketing and depending on your own circumstances you can opt for one of several strategies, or choose a couple. The general advice though is to pick a marketing strategy and stick to it for the long term until you get traction. Jumping from one strategy to another can mean you spread yourself too thin. \

Any strategy can be tough, so it's a good idea to stick to one you're comfortable with. Blogging, or content marketing is a slower strategy than through using paid marketing. Some affiliates will invest in high ticket programs and then use paid marketing to build and scale their business quite quickly. This requires a lot more investment than someone who wants to use free programs and generate traffic through blogging, for example.

Depending on your own particular circumstances you can choose a strategy to suit you and your budget. Free marketing strategies can take much longer though and require a lot more work. Blogging, or video creation are two such strategies. By uploading a video to YouTube each day, or creating a blog post, you shouldn't expect too much to happen in the short term. But over months and years of doing this activity, you can generate a nice passive income through promoting affiliate products through your content.

Over time, your content will grow and videos and posts you wrote years ago can still generate you an income. As your volume of content grows you should see your income growing from sales too. This will also depend on a number of factors too, of course. Depending on your topic and ability to create useful and interesting content, this can take several months or even years before you see regular traction in your online business.

A much faster method is to use list building and paid marketing. With list building, you create a list of email subscribers and send them regular emails through an autoresponder. As your list grows, and you build relationships with your subscribers, they should get to know, like and trust you. You monetise your email list through providing useful affiliate products which will be of value to your subscribers.

Initially though, as an affiliate marketer it can be tough. With a list of only 90 people, it's much more difficult to make sales than with a list of 90,000 subscribers. In the early days it can be difficult to see this, and all you look at is the lack of sales you have made!

Affiliates therefore need to be patient and understand than they are building a business. Many affiliates don't see this though and quit far too early. Before even building an email list of 1000 subscribers, they declare that "it doesn't work" and quit!

A good analogy of affiliate marketing is to look at the Chinese bamboo tree. A Chinese bamboo tree gestates underground for 4-5 years before anything breaks the soil surface.

Once it does break through the soil, it can shoot up to 90 feet tall in a six week period.

Affiliate marketing is much the same. The gestation period can be months or years. This is the hardest time for affiliates because they have no proof that their business is working.

There's some other ways you can optimise your traction with an online affiliate business too. For years I struggled with affiliate marketing because I didn't know this. I joined Amazon and eBay affiliate programs and worked hard building content only to make next to nothing!

Later I found out about digital products which paid much more in terms of commissions. Amazon, for example pays from 1-11% commission on a product sold by an affiliate. Digital products typically pay much more and often from 40% to even 100% in some cases.

Subscription digital products too offer the affiliate a greater opportunity to earn regular income from a small number of sales. As a beginner, it's definitely worth using subscription affiliate products. These are things such as memberships and software products used by online businesses themselves.

A subscription product can allow a relatively new affiliate to start earning regular commissions much more quickly. Since initially getting your first commission is the hardest part, subscriptions give you an added bonus and help you attain more stability with the same amount of work.

High ticket products are another consideration for affiliates too. With a high ticket digital product you can earn much larger commissions for a single sale. A $100 product, for example might offer you a $40 commission. Whereas a $1000 product will give you a nice $400 pay day - with what amounts often to the same amount of work.

It's also worth joining an online community and getting the help and support of mentors, if you're going down the affiliate path. With a mentor, you have support and guidance. In those moments when you want to quit, they will put you back on track and support and assist you. When there's only you working alone, it can be very difficult when you're not making much progress.

You Can Start A Home Business Today

Foto by cottonbro from Pexels

A successful home business takes careful planning. The information here will give you basic ideas that will help you get your home business off to a good start.

You need to be able to listen to your internal time clock if you work at home or own your own business. It's true that there is very little that you can do about when your employer wants you to get up, but when you are in charge, try listening to your own body to determine when you should start your day.

Keep home and work communication separate. Don't send work e-mails from your personal account. Consider getting a separate work phone line. If that is not an option, get caller ID. Don't take personal calls while at work. Don't take business calls after work hours. Politely ask friends and neighbors to call before coming to your door.

Before you venture into a home-based business, ask yourself why you want to start a business. Your reasons might include: you want to be your own boss; you want to express your own creativity; you want to supplement your income; or, it might be others. Your reasons for wanting to start a business will influence your decision on what type of business you start.

If you want to run a home business, you need the space to do it in. Make sure you have a quiet office, away from the noises of the rest of the house and family. Make sure your space includes a comfortable desk and chair, as well as adequate storage for your needs. Setting your office up right will make you a more effective worker.

Don't walk into a home business blind! There are many online discussion forums designed for small business owners to discuss the unique obstacles in this field. Look locally for other small business and home business organizations that meet in person. Either way you go, networking with other business owners gives you an excellent support system.

If you want make some of the products you sell in your home business, take careful account of how much it costs to product it. Two times the cost of the raw material is typically the wholesale price of a product. Two times the cost of wholesale pricing is the cost of retail in many cases. If the final retail price is prohibitive you will struggle to shift the product.

While conducting business in your sleepwear can seem enjoyable at first, you may begin to miss the interaction that you had with coworkers and clients everyday at your previous job. Make plans to meet people at other places besides your home during the week to stay in touch, reinforce your personal connections and meet the need for interaction with others.

Learning from the valuable information above, you will increase your chances of achieving success in whatever home business you choose. Nowhere is it written that this will be easy, especially in the beginning, but hopefully, this article has given you a good jump-start toward success!

Teaching English Online

Imagen de Tumisu en Pixabay

If you are looking for a new stream of income you can earn through your computer during the pandemic and afterwards, consider teaching English online. You should be a native English speaker or have excellent understanding of English grammar, and little or no accent. Schools are looking for enthusiastic people who can quickly establish a good rapport with their students whether one-on-one or a small group.

Teaching English online is a huge market around the world. At any one time, hundreds, if not thousands, of people are sitting at their computers, doing 30-45 minute lessons with students overseas. All you need, apart from good English language skills, are a computer with a webcam, Skype, and a headset with a microphone. You can even just start with just a computer and Skype, which is free, and your computer's audio system.

This will be of particular interest to early birds. China and South Korea are where most of the students are and they study online after school. Because of the time differences, you may be teaching from 6:00-10:00 am. Can you handle that? They also study on weekends so Friday and Saturday evenings (6:00-10:00 pm your time) might also be possibilities.

Online teachers are paid up to $22-24US per hour (deposited right into your local bank account). Teaching 4 hours a day could earn you up to $400-500 US per week and your work day will be done by 10:00 am, leaving you the rest of the day free.

My book Teaching English Online, tells you all you need to know about setting up a corner in a room in your home, where to find jobs, how you get paid, and generally what else you need to know.It is available on Amazon websites worldwide in paperback or Kindle. Amazon ASIN # B0863SB1Q7

The pandemic has impacted local and overseas schools with the result that online teaching has become more popular than ever. To teach online locally, you would have to be licensed in your state or province. To teach overseas students, you do not have to have teaching credentials. A degree is always preferred but there are many positions where only a TEFL certificate is required. Some agencies may even accept an applicant without a TEFL Certificate if the need exceeds the number of applicants, but having one opens many more opportunities and better pay. It also looks good on your resume or CV.

If teaching online interests you, you may want to check out my Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) course. Having a TEFL Certificate qualification shows schools right away that you are a serious and knowledgeable applicant.

Several people I know love to travel. They teach from wherever they happen to be in the world. This earns them enough to pay their travel expenses. They are teaching nomads and love it. Save that for later once travel restrictions are lifted.

Dr. Robert Taylor, D M, MA (TESL) is a teacher and author. He spent 14 years in Thailand teaching from K-12 to university as well as to local senior management groups. For more about Dr. Taylor's book on Teaching English Online: http://www.teachesl.org/online.html.
